Today the working farm thrives under the supervision of former Ecuador President Galo Plaza’s descendants. The farm produces a wide range of products, including 5000 liters of milk per day, cheeses, barley, quinoa, potatoes, wheat, artichokes, organic vegetables, humus and wood and also boasts a wide variety of livestock, dairy cows, sheep and horses.
Zuleta was opened to a limited number of guests about 10 years ago so that public may enjoy the many wonders it holds.
Of special interest to many guests are visits to the private part of the house including Galo Plazas private library with more than 1.000 books in several languages, the embroidery workshop, a condor rehabilitation project, the trout farm and cheese factory. Guests are hosted by a Plaza family member or by the companies manager, another gesture of Zuleta’s renown hospitality. |
